Hilary Smith & Associates was established in 2022 out of a desire to deliver quality private occupational therapy services to adults with neurological conditions, mainly those with an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) or a Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) living at home and also within supported accommodation.
Hilary Smith is the director and a senior Occupational Therapist (OT) with over 20 years experience, and works primarily within Victorian Neurorehabilitation Network (VNN). Qualifications include a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy and a Bachelor of Behavioural Science.
Hilary has worked at the National Spinal Injuries Centre (NSIC) in the UK and at the Victorian Spinal Cord Service (VSCS) in Australia, and has extensive experience working with people with SCI and ABI.
The right experience
Hilary is well-versed in NDIS and TAC, with more than 8 years working in this area with clients with neurological conditions. Hilary previously worked in a large private neurological community practice for many years.
Hilary has experience across the healthcare continuum, having worked in the areas of; emergency, inpatient wards, inpatient rehabilitation and community OT.
The right skills
Hilary is very skilled at working within multidisciplinary teams for complex clients with disabilities, and neurological conditions. Hilary enjoys putting her organisational skills to work helping others to become more independent in their activities of daily living. Hilary prides herself on being very thorough and detail focussed.
Hilary is a registered AHPRA professional, Red SWEP/CAPE prescriber and member of OT Australia. Special interests also include Assistive Technology (AT) including seating/wheelchairs, Complex Home Modifications, upper limb rehab and complex report writing.
